All universities are closed till May 29

The government has decided to close all the universities in the country till May 29 to prevent coronavirus infection. The Ministry of Education said in a statement on Sunday.

"The existing holidays in the universities have been extended till the 29th of this month considering the situation of Kovid-19 in the country and the teachers-students, officials and parents," the statement said.

It added that the decision was taken on the advice of the National Technical Advisory Committee on Covid-19.

However, teachers and students will be able to take classes online even if they are closed according to the hygiene rules.

Earlier, the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education announced closure of primary schools and kindergartens till May 29. At the same time, the Ministry of Education has announced to close secondary and higher secondary educational institutions till May 29.

Last March, Education Minister Dipu Moni said the educational institution would be reopened from May 23 after Eid. Teachers and students will be able to go directly to the class.

Class examinations have also been postponed due to the closure of all educational institutions since March 16 last year.
